A community school, Pear Tree Mead enrols children from the ages of 2 to 11.
While most kids start the nursery class throughout the year, part-time, when they are 3 years old, some kids start pre-school as early as 2 years old.
To accommodate the expanding needs of Harlow New Town, the school was constructed in 1959.
In September 2014, we changed our name to Single Converter Academy.
Despite being a long-standing elementary school, we are currently merging the two major buildings to accommodate more students.
As a result, the school is housed in two buildings that are adjacent to one another and has a large amount of additional administrative and classroom space.
Over the next few years, the school has various plans to improve both the indoor and outdoor settings.
The nursery and reception classes are located in the school's initial section.
The Pre-school, which houses our section for 2-year-olds, has a distinct address.
This space is just for parents.
The four KS1 classrooms, staffroom, PPA room, two learning mentorship rooms, KS1 intervention area, and new library are all located in the school's new wing.
Children in third through sixth grade are housed on the opposite side of the structure.
There are seven classrooms total, three of which are above, along with a sizable hall.
Each classroom has its own bathroom and changing area.
In addition, a film studio, group teaching spaces, and a kitchen for school meals are housed in this facility along with the administrative staff, reception, head teacher's office, leadership team, and inclusion manager's offices.
There are extensive and pleasant grounds with a wildlife area, allotment, a pond, shaded picnic area, large playing fields and three playgrounds with new playground equipment.
We also have a heated indoor pool on premises.
We collaborate closely with other secondary and elementary schools and are a member of the Harlow Education Consortium.
Our Friends of Pear Tree Mead Association is made up of a dedicated group of parents who organise numerous fund-raising activities.
We also have a programme for adult helpers.
As a team, we work with Passmores Academy.
