From the Holmer Green Senior School
We provide a resilience programme in Year 7 and Year 9 because we understand that some students may require a little more time to fully grasp a concept and that persistence is necessary for learning.
As a school, we demand that students participate in extracurricular activities and enrichment programmes and put their all into them.
We know that all HGSS students benefit from meeting many other students from a variety of backgrounds, with a plethora of cultures and experiences among them, because HGSS is a mixed, non-selective school.
All students take a GCSE in Religious Education because, in our opinion, understanding many religions and worldviews fosters more respect and tolerance.
All HGSS students should gain the abilities to function effectively in a fast-paced environment through the aforementioned experiences. They should also become informed about current events, be prepared to express their opinions, be tolerant of people from all backgrounds, act selflessly, and most importantly, possess integrity so they can distinguish right from wrong.
All of our students are pushed by our curriculum to gain knowledge and abilities in a variety of disciplines and hobbies.
In Years 7 and 8, the curriculum is broad and heterogeneous, and in Year 9, students begin studying for their GCSE options.
In our sixth form, we provide a variety of academic and practical credentials.
No Excuses" indicates that we want students to always be nice and respectful, as well as to be on time and in class.
Since we maintain a tranquil, organised environment, we have the highest standards for behaviour.
We ask students and parents to sign a Home School Agreement in which we explicitly outline our Code of Conduct.
Behavior that is poor or disruptive is not accepted.
Teaching creative thinking to students.
They are urged to be distinctive.
The school provides a variety of fun activities to foster creativity.
The school serves as a "centre" for the arts, which include music, drama, photography, textiles, and art.
Some of the faculty who teach the arts courses also give teacher training, and network gatherings hosted at the school benefit the county's schools.
Students participate in artistic performances and activities and frequently place highly in regional and national competitions.
