In the beginning, 106 Piccadilly was constructed as a townhouse for Sir Hugh Hunlock in 1761, and then for Lord Coventry starting in 1764. In 1765, Robert Adam made significant interior renovations. Coventry House was what it was until 1848, when the French Ambassador temporarily resided there. In 1868, the St. James's Club bought 106 and hired Thomas Cundy Senior to renovate it. Up until the club's closure in 1978, the structure was still in use as a club. Numerous historical figures, including Evelyn Waugh and Ian Fleming, who called the club his home in the 1940s, attended it during this time. Since the club closed, it has been utilised for education. Slate roof, Palladian facade, and Portland stone make up the building's exterior. The lodging is set up over four floors, including a basement. The majority of the 18th century characteristics are still present within. The magnificent stone staircase in the main entrance hall splits into two flights at the first floor level and features a wrought iron balustrade. There are numerous elaborately detailed decorative ceilings, chandeliers, marble pillars, and elegant cornices on the ground and first floors. This magnificent structure offers both students and faculty a constantly dynamic learning environment.
