Every kid in our care currently receives a free third of a pint of milk per session from the Department of Health. If your youngster doesn't like milk, there are other options like water or juice. A variety of fresh fruits, raw vegetables (such as carrots and cucumber), sweet and savoury biscuits, cereals, and several kinds of bread will be available as snacks (such as toast, pitta bread, bagel etc.). The emphasis is on encouraging healthy eating and having fun together. Additionally, snack time may be related to a current topic or subject area. The kids are urged to exercise independence by watching them when they pour their own beverages. There is always access to water. Older kids will appreciate the independence they acquire from using a water jug that has been left out for them to use. Additionally, it helps them feel better about themselves and offers them tremendous joy to do something for you if they are encouraged to pour a drink for you at the same time. If your child has any special dietary requirements or if you do not want him or her to be offered certain foods, please speak to a member of the Preschool staff and this will be put onto their milk cards. Please refrain from packing any nuts, chocolate-covered items, or items containing chocolate in your lunch bags. Children who are already dehydrated by the time they experience thirst are simply not getting enough water for their bodies to function properly. Does your youngster get enough liquids? Children who are dehydrated may become irritable, and they may not even be aware of their negative emotions. This can be prevented by encouraging your youngster to sip little amounts of water frequently throughout the day.
